Limit Free Trial to once per Email address
Dr. Ariele
Right now the same person (using the same email / log in) can start a free trial of a course / membership, cancel it before it is over. Then can re-sign up again for another free trial repeatedly without end. Although this type of abuse is relatively rare, it would be nice to pre-emptively limit it, or at least limit it to one free trial every 365 days.

Hi! I was just about to post a feature request on this topic so adding it here instead for reference (and not creating a duplicate) and proposed solution to handle it:
Current Issue:
At present, when offering a free trial for a subscription-based membership, there is no way to restrict students from signing up for multiple consecutive free trials. This presents a challenge, as it can lead to potential misuse of the free trial offer.
Proposed Solution:
It would be extremely beneficial to have a feature that allows platform administrators to set restrictions, preventing a user from signing up for another free trial within a specified time period after their initial trial has ended. This would ensure that the free trial offer is used fairly and as intended.
While identifying users can be challenging, implementing this restriction based on the user's email address or account level would be a reasonable approach. This would at least provide a basic level of control and help mitigate the issue.
Checkout Flow Integration:
To enhance this functionality, the solution should be integrated into the checkout flow. If a user meets the criteria that prevent them from utilizing another free trial, they should be prompted during checkout with an option to purchase the membership without the free trial. This could be handled in one of two ways:
*Single Pricing Plan Adjustment: The user could be offered the same pricing plan, but without the free trial, ensuring a seamless experience.
*Hidden Pricing Plan Option: Alternatively, the system could automatically redirect the user to a "hidden" pricing plan—one that is not normally visible in the checkout—offering a standard monthly subscription without the free trial.
This approach would streamline the user experience, allowing those who are ineligible for a free trial to still easily complete their purchase and join the membership without confusion or frustration.
Benefit:
By adding this feature, platforms can better manage their subscription models and prevent exploitation of the free trial system, ensuring that genuine users have a fair opportunity to experience the content before committing to a paid membership. It also maintains a smooth and user-friendly checkout process for all users, whether or not they are eligible for a free trial.
Thank you for considering this feature request. I believe it would add significant value to the platform and help maintain the integrity of the subscription process.
