Dynamic Purchase Data on Course Thank You Pages for GA4/GTM Tracking
LEIGH
We use Google Tag Manager and GA4 to track our marketing and course sales, but currently Zenler does not appear to make the actual purchase/order data available to JavaScript on the course Thank You page.
We would like Zenler to expose dynamic purchase variables on the Thank You page and/or automatically push a GA4-compatible
purchase
event to the browser dataLayer following a successful paid enrolment.Ideally, the following values would be available dynamically:
*
transaction_id
– unique order/transaction ID*
item_id
– course ID*
item_name
– course name*
value
– actual amount paid by the customer*
currency
– transaction currency*
plan_name / plan_id
– pricing plan selected*
quantity
– where applicableThis is particularly important because courses can have multiple pricing plans, discounts and payment options, so these values cannot simply be hard-coded into the Thank You page.
Zenler already has access to dynamic information such as course name, plan name, plan price and final price for its system purchase/enrolment emails. Making the equivalent transaction data available on the Thank You page would allow customers to implement accurate ecommerce tracking through Google Tag Manager and GA4.
Example desired functionality:
Following a successful purchase, Zenler could push something equivalent to:
dataLayer.push({ event: 'purchase', ecommerce: { transaction_id, value, currency, items: [...] } });
Alternatively, simply exposing the relevant dynamic variables to JavaScript on the Thank You page would allow us to create the dataLayer event ourselves through the existing Tracking Code section.
### Why this is important
Without dynamic purchase data, we cannot accurately send purchase values and course information to GA4. This makes it difficult to:
* Measure revenue and purchases by course
* Track which marketing campaigns actually generate sales
* Calculate ROAS from Google Ads and Meta campaigns
* Distinguish between different pricing plans
* Accurately attribute conversions and revenue
* Optimise paid advertising based on actual purchases rather than just page visits
For businesses using Zenler to sell multiple courses and pricing plans, accurate ecommerce and revenue tracking is a fundamental part of measuring marketing performance.
It would be extremely valuable if Zenler could either
support GA4 ecommerce purchase events natively
or make the underlying order/purchase variables available to JavaScript on the Thank You page
